Image ethics

When we produce images, share them or simply look at them, often we are interested in knowing what we are looking at. Some people use images to inform about something, others to express themselves and some use them to influence people or manipulate them. There are those who know their mechanisms and use them in a conscious way and there are those who simply repeat patterns, copy and paste, without knowing what consequences that gesture can have in society.
Yolanda Domínguez takes on a tour of images throughout history (from classical paintings to mass media) explaining how we relate to images, what are their social implications and how to use them in a committed and conscious way. Through examples of her own work she raises the need to transform our collective imaginary in order to end social inequalities.
